From First Call to Final Inspection — 10 Steps, Zero Guesswork

Every Temecula kitchen remodel we complete follows the same 10-step process, whether it’s a targeted refacing project or a full gut remodel. Here’s exactly what happens at each stage, how long it typically takes, and what to expect from us.

Full gut remodels typically run 8–12 weeks start to finish; targeted refacing or countertop-only projects can complete in 1–3 weeks and skip steps that don’t apply (like permitting for cosmetic-only work).

Every Step, Explained

What actually happens at each stage and what we need from you, if anything.

1
Free In-Home Consultation
DAY 1

We visit your Temecula kitchen in person, assess the existing layout, cabinets, plumbing, and electrical, and talk through what you want out of the remodel — whether that’s a full gut renovation or a targeted update.

What we need from you: A rough sense of your budget range and priorities. Nothing else is required — we’ll guide the rest of the conversation.
2
3D Design Rendering
3–7 DAYS

We build a photorealistic 3D rendering of your proposed kitchen — layout, cabinet finish, countertop material, and lighting — so you can see the actual design before committing to anything or signing a contract.

What we need from you: Review the rendering and flag anything you’d like adjusted before we move to material selection.
3
Material Selection
1–2 WEEKS

You finalize cabinet finish, countertop material, hardware, backsplash tile, and any appliances as part of the project. We provide guidance specific to Temecula’s hard water, UV exposure, and your home’s style.

What we need from you: Final selections, which we lock into your written itemized estimate and contract.
4
City of Temecula Permit
2–6 WEEKS

If your project involves electrical, plumbing, gas, or structural changes, we submit for plan check and manage the full permit process — City of Temecula, or Riverside County for De Luz properties — without you having to build the department yourself. Cosmetic-only projects skip this step entirely.

What we need from you: Nothing — we handle submittal, corrections, and issuance in-house. See our full Permit Guide.
5
Pre-Construction Planning
3–5 DAYS

We finalize the construction schedule, confirm material delivery dates, order cabinets and countertops, and walk you through what to expect week by week once demolition starts.

What we need from you: Confirm your preferred start date and set up a temporary kitchen space if this is a full gut remodel.
6
Demolition
1–3 DAYS

Existing cabinets, countertops, flooring, and any walls being removed come out. We use dust containment barriers to keep debris contained to the kitchen, and this stage is also when hidden conditions — old plumbing, settled framing — become visible and get addressed.

What we need from you: Nothing during this stage — we handle debris removal and daily cleanup.
7
Rough-In Work
3–10 DAYS

Electrical, plumbing, and structural framing happens at this stage — new circuits, relocated plumbing lines, and wall modifications. If a permit was pulled, this is when the rough-in inspection happens before anything gets closed up behind drywall.

What we need from you: Nothing — inspections are scheduled and managed by us.
8
Installation Phase
2–5 WEEKS

Cabinets go in first, followed by countertop templating and installation, backsplash, lighting fixtures, hardware, and appliances. This is the longest visible phase of a full remodel and where the kitchen starts looking like the 3D rendering.

What we need from you: Be available for quick walkthroughs at key milestones (cabinets set, countertop templating) so we can confirm everything’s on track.
9
Final City Inspection
1–3 DAYS

For permitted projects, the city (or Riverside County) conducts a final inspection to confirm the finished kitchen matches approved plans and meets code. This closes out the permit and clears the project for official records.

What we need from you: Nothing — we schedule and attend the inspection.
10
Final Walkthrough
DAY OF COMPLETION

We walk the finished kitchen with you, address any punch-list items, confirm every selection matches what was agreed, and hand over documentation — permit records, warranty information, and care instructions for your new materials.

What we need from you: A final sign-off once you’re satisfied everything matches the agreed scope.

How long does the kitchen remodel process take in Temecula?
The full 10-step process typically takes 8–12 weeks for a full gut remodel, from initial consultation through final walkthrough including 2–6 weeks for City of Temecula permit approval where required. Targeted projects like cabinet refacing or a countertop-only update skip several steps (including permitting, in most cases) and can complete in 1–3 weeks.

Process Questions Homeowners Ask

No. Cosmetic-only projects cabinet refacing, a countertop swap on the same footprint, backsplash installation skip the permit step and typically move much faster through pre-construction and installation, since there’s no rough-in or inspection stage involved.

For permitted projects, City of Temecula plan check (2–6 weeks) and the installation phase (2–5 weeks) are typically the longest stages. Material lead times particularly custom cabinetry and stone countertop fabrication can also extend the pre-construction and installation windows.

Your single project manager, assigned at the start of the project, is your point of contact through every one of these 10 steps you won’t be redirected between different crew leads or subcontractors to get an answer.

Minor changes are usually possible before materials are ordered. Once cabinets or countertops are fabricated to spec, changes typically involve additional cost and lead time which is why we build in a review step specifically for the 3D rendering before locking in material selections.
